Before You Begin

A few things worth reading before you start.

Is This For You?

Tazkiya is not tied to any language, culture, or ethnicity. Think of it like IKIGAI, a Japanese framework embraced by people across the world as a lens for understanding life and purpose. Tazkiya works the same way: a universal perspective that invites deep observation of Space and Time, and an honest examination of the Mind and its complexities. Why does this matter now? Our generation lives in an ocean of information (smartphones, the internet, AI) and yet many feel more lost than ever. The problem isn't a lack of information. It's the absence of the right lens to process it. Without that lens, information becomes noise, leading to what's known as Information Fatigue Syndrome: hours of reading, scrolling, and consuming content, yet leaving you feeling emptier than before. Who is this for? You may have grown up inheriting beliefs (from family, culture, or community), never really questioning them. But somewhere along the way, you started noticing contradictions between those inherited beliefs and what you observed around you. That tension, cognitive dissonance, slowly scattered your sense of direction. Without a clear anchor, many drift away from what they were raised with, but toward no particular destination. The default conclusion becomes cynicism: "it's all man-made." And yet the cycle doesn't resolve. Purpose remains elusive. Distractions fill the silence. Debates with others multiply confusion rather than reduce it. Tazkiya exists specifically to break that cycle: not to add more noise, but to finally offer genuine clarity.

Things To Keep In Mind

The quality of what you receive depends entirely on how you show up. Here is what to bring with you. Mental Preparation Begin by renewing your intention. Ask yourself sincerely: why am I here? Let that answer settle before you begin. Arrive with a stable emotional state. If you're feeling reactive or restless, give yourself a few quiet minutes first. Rushing in with a scattered mind limits what you can receive. Consciously set aside deep-seated biases: cognitive bias, future anxiety, past baggage, cognitive closure. These filters distort how we interpret new ideas. Letting them go, even temporarily, opens the space for genuine understanding. Cultivate mercy, toward others and toward yourself. Through consistent charity, care for loved ones, and helping strangers, the heart becomes more receptive. Your Environment Create the conditions for focus. A quiet, library-like setting makes a real difference. Tidy your space, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and eliminate distractions. Your external environment reflects and shapes your internal state. Realistic Expectations This is not an instant transformation. Think of it as Philosophy meeting Science, a gradual process of resolving long-held moral debates, addressing cognitive closures, and gently removing bias. Approach this as a process, not a switch. Physical Preparation Take care of your body beforehand. A warm bath calms the senses. Wear clean, quality clothing, and attend to small details like trimming hair and nails. When you feel clean and put-together, your mind follows. During the Session Don't just passively listen. Bring a proper notebook and pen, not just your phone. Take detailed notes, write down every question as it arises, and if a step in the reasoning doesn't land, pause and ask for clarification. Missing a key point is worse than asking twice. Your Heart Perhaps most importantly: come with a clean heart. Set aside whoever hurt you and whatever happened. Forgive. Forget. You cannot receive clearly while carrying weight.
